I just love cold weekends in the fall/winter.  There's something about this weather, or maybe the holiday spirit that always puts me in a good mood. 

I've spent this weekend visiting the Museum of Modern Art (oggling Edvard Munch's "The Scream"), curling up on the couch with a good book (& cozy blanket), & tonight I'll be having a pre-Thanksgiving feast with my best friends (for which I'll be making my specialty- Tiramisu).

Just a friendly reminder to get out and vote tomorrow November 6th!

I'm back after a brief hiatus due to hurricane Sandy.  I feel very lucky to have come out of the experience unharmed, & am in shock/disbelief at the devastation the hurricane caused.

This past week I've been home from work & only able to go as far as my legs can take me (mass transit was practically nonexistent & I don't drive).

So I've been exploring my new neighborhood, catching up on chores, & watching the news/politics.

There's something about a chunky knit sweater that makes me just want to live in it.  Especially when I'm feeling sick (like today).  This sweater feels like a warm blanket wrapped around me all day and it's so easy to style.  So you'll probably see me in knits for the next few months.

Coat Shopping

It's a cool, rainy Friday, and I had the day off.  

That mean lots of errands 

...& of course doing some online shopping.

I'm currently looking for a new coat (seeing as many of mine are worn out and getting holes in them).

It needs to be classic, moderately warm, and versatile, but with a slight edge.

I've been searching for a pair of high waisted, wide leg jeans for ages... and last week I finally found the perfect pair from Vince at Nordstrom Rack.  Normally I admire the clothing from Vince, but never actually purchase it because it's a bit out of my price point.  But these jeans were so discounted, and so perfect that I just couldn't resist.

Fine Wine

As you all probably know by now, oxblood is the color of the season.  But I personally hate the name.  I prefer to think of it as burgundy... or to be more specific- 'fine wine.'

The past few days have been in the mid 50s in NYC... so I've been having fun layering up in my favorite scarves, jackets, & boots.

I'm usually not one for business attire (my job doesn't even call for it), but when I saw this short suit at H&M last week I just couldn't resist. I love it's neutral color scheme because it allows me to pair it with fun colors and prints.  And the shorts keep it fun and playful, and not too business-like.

I recently found this amazing, silk Club Monaco dress at "Second Time Around" (a secondhand, consignment store).  There are locations not just in NY, but all over the US...  I highly recommend checking one out in a city near you:  Second Time Around

NYFW wrap up

New York Fashion Week was a long and tiring, yet exciting week.  I couldn't get to as many shows as I would've liked this time around because I had to work. But next time I will make sure to put in some vacation days ahead of time so that I can get the full experience.

This was an outfit I wore earlier this week while attending shows.  My new burgundy MAM bag (from Rebecca Minkoff) was a life saver during fashion week. It was able to hold my DSLR, a pair of flats (a necessity in NYC), makeup, and pretty much everything I needed.

P.S.  I'm so excited for fall weather/fashion that I'm wearing jackets even when the sun is shining.

Erin Bar SS2013

Late 50's, femme fatale was the vibe of Erin Barr's spring/summer 2013 presentation at New York Fashion Week.  The black, white, & red theme keeps each look classic while cut-outs, leather, & thigh high slits provided a modern edge.

Cateye glasses, clean angles, unexpected details, side-swept updos, & pops of red...

it's no wonder Erin Barr's collection was one of my favorites so far.
